Courtesy, integrity, perseverance,
self control,
indomitable spirit
The traditional philosophy of Taekwondo emphasises
moral and physical development, with the aim of building a better
and more peaceful world.
We aim to provide our members with character
strength based on the five tenets of Taekwondo – courtesy,
integrity, perseverance, self -control and indomitable spirit –
as well as developing physical wellbeing and fitness.
|
- Physical training. The physical side of the
art is designed to develop strength, speed, flexibility, reflexes,
improved coordination and the ability to protect yourself from
attack. As you become fitter and stronger you will gain strong
feelings of achievement and satisfaction.
- Mental training. The central values, traditions
and rules of behaviour teach you self-control and inner strength
leading to the development of character, integrity and self confidence.
Traditional methods teach courtesy, self-control, respect and
humility and encourage these qualities to become part of your
character and way of living.
|
This philosophy of combining physical aspects with the core values and
traditions of martial art training gives students a moral code of conduct
to follow. It is this code of conduct that separates the art from other
forms of exercise and makes it such a dramatically positive influence
on all aspects of your life.

“While I have lost about
18kg over six months and feel much better for it, the aspect I enjoy
most about Taekwondo has been the mental training.”
